Learning Club Tutoring

Position Description: The Learning Club Tutor provides assistance in the literacy and or numeracy or homework of students who attend the Learning Club through utilising training and resources provided by The smith Family. The role requires a minimum 10 weeks commitment, approx. 1-2 hours per week.

Position Location: Gladstone

Required Skills / Experience: ESSENTIAL • Good written and verbal communication skills • Friendly and positive attitude • Sound knowledge of primary subjects area • Able to communicate well with young people • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team DESIRABLE • Understanding of factors affecting students from financially disadvantaged families • Experience in working in the education sector or currently studying in the field of education.

Gained Skills / Experience: DESIRABLE • Previous experience in working with children / youth


Training Offered / Provided:

  • Induction
  • On The Job Training
  • Training Session

Specialised support available for volunteers:

Specical Requirements:

  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • National Police Check
  • Current Driver's License

Purpose/Mission Statement: Learning Clubs are a safe, supportive out of school hours learning environment, where students have the opportunity to access resources and participate in activities that develop their academic skills, such as homework, literacy and numeracy.

Services Provided: Smith Family Learning Clubs are run with the support of trained local volunteers for 1 hour a week directly after school and provide disadvantaged students with access to resources and expertise to help with their homework and learning
