Position Description: This rewarding volunteer role would suit any applicants wishing to gain experience in the animal industry, people that love animals, and anyone looking for a worthwhile way to spend their spare time. The position itself involves taking dogs of all shapes and sizes for walks in the area surrounding our centre; you may also like to do some training with the dogs to assist them in finding a new home. The role is flexible to fit in with your work hours, but we ask volunteers to attend at least once to twice per week (and arrange times with kennel helpers or other volunteers who have keys to the facility). Orientation and training is provided. Email us for an information pack.

Position Location: Gladstone

Required Skills / Experience: Animal confidence, reliability, and ability to work independently. Must be over 16yrs for liability insurance reasons. Own reliable transport.

Gained Skills / Experience: Animal handling and training techniques, animal disease control, animal shelter experience, experience with many different breeds of dogs.

Purpose/Mission Statement: The RSPCA Gladstone is a small group of volunteers who rescue and re-home local dogs and cats. They are mostly self-funded and rely on volunteers, community support and donations to continue saving these animals from our local pounds.

Services Provided: Rescue and rehoming of dogs and cats from the Gladstone region pounds, surrender of animals, animal education program, Pets in Crisis program, Pet Legacy program.
